Setting up an RMS Demo

You can setup an RMS Room Interface demo using a demo database:


1. Update the User Registration in Idealpos. For version 6, add RI. For version 7, add RMS.


2. Copy the attached CSV file into any folder, and then rename it so it has today’s date (RMSddmmyy.csv); for example if today is 22 Mar 2017, the file name would be RMS220317.CSV.


3. Go to Setup > Global Options > Interfaces, and select RMS as the interface type. The Network path will point to the location of the CSV file (for example, c:\test). The Customer Prefix is not required when testing.


4. Create the Room Charge Tender:



5. Perform a sale, and select the Room Charge Tender.


6. Enter one of the active rooms (example rooms are 1 & 2):



The format of the file received from RMS:

The room number is the first field on each line. 0 at the end of the line indicates a check in; 1 indicates a check out.


The RMS220317.csv file is a sample file we receive from RMS.

The attached SYSNET060617.csv is a sample file that we write and is sent/read by RMS.
