      RFID Reader Information

      On the Ares terminals,

      • the standalone RFID Reader uses COM7.
      • the combo RFID / Card Reader uses COM6 or COM8

      Ares terminals purchased before approximately 17 Nov 2016 may need a firmware upgrade to enable the RFID reader. Contact support for more information.

      The following settings were successfully used at a site using the combo RFID/Card Reader on an Ares terminal :


      Clerk Wrist Strap Connection : {see note below} Settings : 9600,n,8,1 Magstripe Reader Connection : {see note below} Settings : 9600,e,8,1

      For the "Connection", Device Manager can be used to determine the possible COM port values here (in the above case one was COM6 and the other COM7) :
