Indirect Items, Purchase Orders, and Stocktakes

Here are some examples of using Direct and Indirect Items in Idealpos in sales, purchases, and stocktakes.

Spirit Bottles:

In the demo database, there is a Stock Item called 666 VODKA 700 (700ml bottle of Vodka) marked for Stock Control:

Mixed drinks that contain a portion of this vodka, like DRY VODKA MARTINI, are ticked for Indirect Items:

On the Indirect tab of DRY VODKA MARTINI, one component of this drink is 60mls of 666 Vodka, taken from a bottle:

Selling a DRY VODKA MARTINI reduces the stock of the 666 VODKA 700 stock item.

On the Purchase Order, the item purchased is the bottle:

And in Stocktakes, the item counted is also the bottle:

The demo database also has a stock item called 215008 BECKS CARTON, selected for Indirect Items:

On the Indirect Items tab, it is made up of 24 Becks singles (213008):

There is also a BECK PACK stock item (6 pack), ticked for Indirect Items:

And it is made up of 6 BECKS singles:

You purchase cartons:

When you Stocktake, you can press the down arrow and enter a count of cartons and/or 6 packs, then press Add to Stocktake, and the number of singles is calculated:

You can then also count singles and add that to the total for complete flexibility.
