Datalogic MAGELLAN 1500i Scanners

1D/2D desktop scanner: factory default is 2D disabled.

Updated config 1500i-Idealpos.TEX attached, and manual scan update sheet 1500i Standard Settings.pdf

Print out and fold the sheet so only the desired barcode is showing.

On the 1500i it is best to leave the scanner sitting on the table and present the programming labels to it.

Scan the “Switch label” to enter programming mode

Wait a good 5 seconds or so for the scanner to switch to programming mode (you may see the illumination flash off & back on when that completes)

Scan the “Settings + Exit” barcode. Allow the scanner to reset and reconnect.

Reset and enter 'Service Port' mode: Press and hold button for 10 seconds.

Change Scanner Volume: Press button momentarily, cycle thru 5 volumes. (lost if scanner is power cycled)

Change scanner Tone: Press button for 2 seconds, cycle thru 3 tones. (lost if scanner is power cycled)

Scanner Reset: Press and hold button for 10 seconds, then it will then reset and enter Service Port Mode.

SCANALYZER

To connect to Scanalyzer the 1500i has to be in “Service Port Mode”.

To connect over USB the service port uses USB-COM and so you will also need to install the USB COM driver: https://cdn.datalogic.com/Download?iddwnfile=22082

To go into Service Port Mode:

1. Unplug the 1500i

2. While holding down the Scan button on the top of the unit, plug the 1500i into USB.

3. Quickly release the button as soon as the green light on the button illuminates. (Holding the button for too long will cause an error).

The scanner will emit a double beep after a few moments and enter Service Mode.

In Scanalyzer:

First configure which port the scanner is on:

Options & Settings

Set COM port

Then Connect:

To change config, go into Configuration Manager.

To load a previously save config file, Update scanner, select file, update scanner.

Scanning Issues

A barcode with border can cause issues with these scanners, resolution is to Enable EAN Guard Insertion.

1500i Enable EAN Guard Insertion.pdf or config file 1500i.TEX

If the scanner works for a short time, then stops scanning, requiring a power reset.
