Transitioning from a manual rewards promotion to an Idealpos rewards promotion
Q:
We have a customer who is just transitioning from a manual coffee card to rewards promo in Ideal POS.
How can we adjust how many coffees each customer has already purchased on the manual system in Ideal?
For example: Joe has bought 5 coffees so has 1 to go to get a free one. Where can we adjust the 5, he has so Ideal POs is correct?
A:
If by some chance, these previous coffee sales were done in Idealpos and the customer was added to the sale, then starting the promotion will automatically work, because Idealpos uses the sales journal to calculate the rewards promotion.
However, it is probably likely that the customer was not added in POS for these sales, and they were done as Cash Sales. If this is true, then this method will work:
1. Create a dummy Stock Item called something like 'Previous Coffee Purchase' which is zero-priced.
2. Create your rewards promo. It will include the genuine Coffee Stock Items, and also the 'Previous Coffee Purchase' stock item.
3. Create a button in the POS screen for the 'Previous Coffee Purchase' stock item (depending on your security level, you may want to put this on a Manager tab).
When a customer does a POS transaction and shows their card, press the Previous Coffee Purchase button once for each previously purchased coffee (and then take their card).
The rewards promo will now count those previous purchases toward their current tracked reward.
